Jakarta, November 14, 2024 – Entering its 15th year, the Sharia Business Unit of PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk (UUS OCBC) continues to move forward by demonstrating positive growth in Indonesia's Islamic banking industry.. Standing on sharia principles, UUS OCBC has succeeded in providing various services and products that suit the dynamic financial needs in the current era, while still upholding Islamic values through the concept of Muslim Life Cycle concept.
Mahendra Koesumawardhana, Head of OCBC Sharia Business Unit said, “The performance of the Sharia Business Unit is certainly supported by the trust of our stakeholders. Until September 2024, the total assets of UUS OCBC have increased to IDR10.4 trillion, growing by 29% Year on Year (YoY). On top of that, our financing also recorded solid growth of 21% YoY, reaching IDR5.9 trillion, and our third party funds increased by 19% YoY to IDR8.2 trillion.”
Starting from Maqossid Assyariah, UUS OCBC implements the Sharia Integrated Financial Solution through the HEART Model, a holistic approach designed to meet various financial needs of Muslim community in Indonesia. This approach includes aspects of religion, soul, intelect, lineage, and wealth, all aimed at achieving goodness and welfare for the society.
Moreover, UUS OCBC offers integrated Sharia Banking and Beyond Banking services that align with OCBC's offerings; covering basic needs such as savings and insurance, lifestyle, to special needs of Muslims such as ZISWAF, hajj, qurban, umrah, to sharia consultation and wealth planning. In 2023, UUS OCBC launched Tabungan Emas, a sharia-based product and service that allows customers to carry out gold investment activities digitally on OCBC Mobile. In collaboration with Pegadaian, OCBC has become the first bank in Indonesia to offer digital gold savings.
As of September 2024, UUS OCBC has 10 branch offices and 190 Sharia Service offices spread across the Jabodetabek (Jakarta), West Java (Bandung), Central Java (Semarang), East Java (Surabaya), Riau Islands (Batam), South Sulawesi (Makassar), North Sumatra (Medan), South Sumatra (Palembang), West Kalimantan (Pontianak), and East Kalimantan (Balikpapan).

This year, UUS OCBC has introduced various new initiatives and products, including the launch of IMBT (Ijarah Muntahiyah Bittamlik iB), an innovative financing solution that offers a transition of ownership from the lessee to the lessor after the lease period ends. Furthermore, UUS OCBC has organized various activities such as Nyala Fest 2024, AMAL Bangun Musholla, and Sharia Goes to Campus, as an effort to strengthen its commitment to providing services that are beneficial to the wider community.
