Jakarta, March 4, 2025 – OCBC introduces the #BaiknyaBarengBareng campaign, which aims to promote equality in opportunities as a key pillar in building a stronger and more progressive society. Through this initiative, OCBC seeks to emphasize that a meritocratic mindset serves as the foundation for creating a more inclusive environment, empowering individuals to reach their full potential by collaborating. This initiative aims to amplify the importance of equality across various aspects—personal environments, corporate settings, and society.
The #BaiknyaBarengBareng campaign highlights the need to uphold the principle of equal opportunities for everyone to contribute. Aleta Hanafi, Brand and Communication OCBC, further explains “This movement is part of our aspiration to inspire people to recognize that progress requires opportunities for everyone to contribute, free from biases, including gender bias. The focus should be on individual capabilities and how we can collaborate to achieve our goals together. By doing so, opportunities will be equally open to everyone in all aspects, from their personal environment to the wider society.”
Equality is no longer just a women’s issue—it is a collective movement. Therefore, this campaign aims to broaden perspectives and encourage all parties to come together in building a more inclusive environment for everyone.
The beginning of the quarter of 2025 which also coincides with the momentum ahead of International Women's Day is the right time to introduce the #BaiknyaBarengBareng campaign. On this occasion, several speakers were invited as resource persons who were present to present relevant data or information related to the advocacy program. Based on the latest facts from McKinsey and Company's annual report on gender equality in the workplace entitled 'Women in the Workplace,' over the past decade, the representation of women at the corporate management level has indeed increased by around 29% occupying C-level positions, compared to 17% in 2015. However, this progress tends to be slow compared to the early stages of a career, namely entry level and middle manager. In comparison, in every 100 men who are promoted from entry level to managerial positions, only 81 women get the same promotion opportunity.
As an individual with experience related to Myths and Meritocracy, Denny Sumargo as a Celebrity, Actor, and Content Creator shared his perspective “As a man, I believe the myth that raising children is solely a woman’s responsibility no longer applies today. In my family, I strongly believe that a solid partnership between my wife and me is the key to our success. We complement each other in everything, from managing our household to growing our business together. With strong collaboration, we can achieve better outcomes—not just for our family but for ourselves as well. Together, we will never stop growing and reaching our dreams.”
Baiknya Bareng Bareng
The #BaiknyaBarengBareng campaign is OCBC’s advocacy initiative, which this year focuses on the theme “Myths vs. Meritocracy.” Since its launch last year, the campaign has engaged audiences through both offline and online activities. In 2025, the movement is expanding its reach by partnering with other institutions and stakeholders. By jointly providing education that progress can be achieved if there is a collaboration of forces without dividing roles with meritocracy principles as the foundation. Thus, the positive impact will be felt together because of #BaiknyaBarengBareng.
