Let’s hear a story from Aulia Hanamanna, one of our OCBC Volunteers:
In the midst of our daily routines, we often feel like there is only a little time to do anything beyond work and rest. However, after joining the OCBC Volunteer program, this experience broadened my perspective—showing me that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a significant impact on others’ lives, as well as our own.
There are countless benefits I have gained from volunteering, such as making new friends and finding a new family, learning new perspectives, enhancing skills, and much more. Beyond that, this experience has given me a deeper sense of purpose. I have realized that I can make a small difference in someone’s life, and that, in turn, makes me feel more fulfilled.
At OCBC, our volunteer activities focus on helping beneficiary communities through various initiatives. OCBC Volunteers work to enhance community knowledge through financial literacy programs and other educational activities. One of the most memorable experiences for me was teaching children at Sekolah Kami in Bekasi the basic concepts of finance through fun games. Seeing their enthusiasm for learning made me realize how crucial financial literacy is for their future.
From the various activities I have participated in, I have come to see that these efforts go beyond fulfilling OCBC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments. They also foster deep interactions with everyone involved—volunteers, social organization partners, and beneficiaries. This shows that OCBC’s CSR initiatives strive to create real and meaningful change to improve the quality of life in communities.
OCBC grows with the support of the community, and through its CSR efforts, OCBC encourages the community to grow together. Taking part in volunteer activities not only provides an opportunity to meet various beneficiary groups, but also shows that small actions we take can hold value for others and inspire many to join in doing good.
